Student Practice - CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

Image
Classroom Management Observation dates: 20/01/2022, 24/01/2022 These two days I had different observation views. The first view was that the students were having classes at school while the teacher was teaching at home. The second view was that both Ss and T were at home. When I observed classes online, I found it difficult because I could not see everyone clearly, particularly when everyone was at school. Sometimes the Internet was lagged, which made it more complex for me to observe lessons. Apart from that, when everyone was at home, some Ss kept their cameras off, and it made it hard for T to make sure the situations of Ss.  Now I am going to elaborate on these two dissimilar situations. While Ss were at school, they had their supportive teacher, who helped the main teacher and Ss. Overall, Ss were engaged in the class. However, it was problematic for T to ensure that Ss have finished taking notes. And T had to keep asking the same questions many times. It was not easy fo...

one methodology handbook in the first semester

The Practive of English Language Teaching It is never easy to finish reading such a thick book for me, but I felt a sense of achievement when I did it successful. It has 386 pages, including 24 chapters with extra follow-up tasks. I usually read it when I was on the bed and ready for sleeping. The book is really significant in guiding English teachers and it is recommended by most teachers. Fortunately, it is available online with different editions.  The book contains almost every aspects in English teaching, such as the description of learners and teachers, which does not only talk about methodologies but also the latest theories and technologies in teaching. However, I enjoyed reading the examples the most, since it is imaginable and vivd in my mind. And one thing that I was surprised by is that it includes the topic of culture, which is really astonishing because this is a point which is usually ignored by other similar books. It enabled me to figure out some questions I...

Student Practice - CLASSROOM ROUTINES

Image
CLASSROOM ROUTINES Observation date: 17/01/2022 In today's observation, I mainly focused on the classroom routines. Two lessons, including Chinese and Native English, were observed. From the Chinese lesson, I saw the close connection between teachers because the Chinses teacher knew what they were learning in Math subject was multiplication. Then, the topic of that class was combined with numbers and quantifiers. And, t he topic of the  Native English class  was "land migrations". The aim of it was to learn about the different ways and reasons land animals migrate and to practice reading comprehension.   It seemed that there was something wrong with the bell in the school, which could be problematic for students as well as teachers to stick to the schedule to start a class normally because some students were still missing when it was the time for class. Also, Ss did not need to follow a certain procedure to enter the classroom. However, when the teacher enters the c...

Student Practice - CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT

Image
On 10/01/2022, I decided to take it as my adaptation day at the Monnet International School,  ul.  Stępińska 13 (PYP) to get familiar with the teachers, 12 (13) students (4th graders) and the environment. During that day I had the chance to observe three lessons, which were Chinese, Math and Native English, but before that, I had the chance to know more about the students, the mentor teacher, the supportive teacher and introduce myself to them at the homeroom meeting as well.  During the Chinese lesson, the children were exuberant, and the classroom was a bit messy from my first impression because children were acting out actively.  The teacher and I supposed that maybe it was the first day that they went back to school and the first stationary meeting during the new year. In the class, t he teacher gave Ss 2 songs to choose from, which showed me what student-centred education resembles. The teacher asked Ss to listen to the song and follow the printed lyrics with fi...

Lekcja angielskiego " 7-9 kids"

Lekcja angielskiego " 7-9 kids" The recorded lesson is a 9-minute long video for beginners from 7 to 9 years old, which is quite short happened in the City No.1 Best School Warszawa-Ursus ul. Dzieci Warszawy 48. There were 6 students, who behaved quite well and paid attention to the whole lesson. They were engaged in those various activities, such as jumping and drawing. The teacher started the lesson with a song, which is something I personally prefer. The teacher took great advantage of the song because she combine it with the drawings of the students to help them review the lexis. They were sitting in a half-circle in front of the interactive board sometimes, and they also sat back to their own desks to draw. These are two main ways of processing activities, though they move around the classroom from time to time. Then, another thing I liked is that the teacher gave different activities to students concerning the varieties of stirring and settling, which means students wer...
