Student Practice Reflection - Self-Evaluation 3

3A) MY CHALLENGES/ AIMS FOR THE FUTURE

What are the areas I still have to work on? What is my action plan? What/who will help me to achieve my goals?

There is always a long way to go. I will study professional knowledge industriously to construct a stable foundation for myself. I have learnt a large number of wonderful ideas, but I have not had the chance to try them out in my class yet. And looking back on my practicum retrospectively, I would like to improve my skill in time management, which was usually mentioned by my mentor. Sometimes, students came into the classroom late so the time of the lesson was decreased. Therefore, I would like to be more flexible in this respect. I would be more firm with time, and I am thinking about using the timer in the class so both students and I are aware of it. I will search on the Internet and read more. Probably, I can conduct another action research if possible. Without any doubt, every individual who is around me can be conducive to my goals. My professors, university colleagues and mentor teacher at the practice school are always generously providing constructive and meaningful instructions and suggestions. In my future teaching, I would like to ask them for help and  I will be more conscious about it as well. Overall, I will take chances to apply diverse ideas in my class and be reflective in my teaching.

3B) FINAL CONCLUSIONS

What went well? What am I particularly proud of? Would I do something differently?

Looking back on what has been done, I am proud of myself for teaching in the new context - an international school I had not had. Since I had some experience and learnt some basic knowledge about teaching before, it refreshed my memory of the knowledge I have learnt. I am also proud of myself for getting accustomed to being flexible and playing as different roles in teaching. I am impressed by the first lesson I observed. My first impression was that it was in a mess because students were sometimes talking about different things and they were not disciplined. However, the last minute of the class changed my perspective completely since all of the students participated in singing and dancing actively, and it turned out that they learnt quite well. My students and I developed mutually in my practicum. I encouraged and praised them for learning well. They motivated me in teaching in return as well by praising me back through kind words and giving me a hug after classes. I am satisfied with the experience, so I would not like to change something because I would have mercy on myself. If those unsatisfactory moments would not  happen, I would not value a lot from the experience. If I encounter those moments in the future, I will not be able to cope with them reasonably because they will be new to me. Therefore, I am always modest to criticism and I am proud of myself for having the experience. I appreciate everyone I have met in the past and I am looking forward to my further development.
