7.Movie Accent Expert Breaks Down 32 Actors' Accents | WIRED
Today I explored a video about 32 actors' accents. That was really amazing because I had not ever had a full landscape of so many different kinds of accents before I watched the video. The Youtuber also commented on their accents and I agreed with him mostly. However, I think some of those sounds of accent are not that representative. For me sometimes they sounded the same. Or even I do not think they have the accent of their own country.
From my experience of studying in Poland for three years till now, I do not think the Polish accent in the video is representative enough because I could not recognise that it is the Polish accent if he does not mention it. Also, usually, actors are trained. By saying that, I mean if there are Chinese actors speaking English in the movie, their accents may not be typical Chinese accent unless it is quite necessary to be used to show their identity. For example, on some specific national official occasions, some people do not speak in neither an American accent nor a British accent instead they speak international accent, which is neutral.
In conclusion, though I expressed my ideas about the video with a pinch of salt, it is a good one and I appreciate the presenter's work of collecting and commenting on those actors very much.
